Medium stockman

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

Medium stockman

Post by Hesmikeb »

I keep seeing knives in SMKW magazine listed as medium stockman and with a closed measurement of 3 5/8. They look like 6318 and 63032. The 63032 and 6318 patterns that I have are 3 1/2. I have pre 1978 6332s that are 3 5/8 with half stops and a transition 6332 that is 3 1/2 without half stop

Is the one in SMKW a different pattern or did they go back the 3 5/8 for 63032 or do they just have the size wrong

I have a few 63032 medium stockman's (great lil' pattern) and they all measure in at 3 1/2" closed length. I've noticed many Case dealers quote the closed length of the 63032 at 3 5/8" ... I can't speak for the 6318, as I don't think I have one of those. Not sure about the SMKW catalog knives but I would guess they are the standard medium stockman 63032 or 6318 at 3 1/2" closed? They may just be using specs they get directly from Case? Sorry I can't be of help.

Are they actually the measurements given, i have found sometimes the tolerance differences can be up to 1/8 of an inch, especially in actual blade length. I am always wary of the measurements given on websites, and if i am really interested in purchasing i will email them and ask them to actually measure the knife, just my 2 cents worth. ::handshake::

Don't know if this will help, Hesmikeb. Here is 63032 from 2005 I have, and a 6318 from 1979.
