Is the 32087 just a newer version of the 03244 pattern? Both measure 3 1/4 closed and one blade on each end and I think the same blade types. I don't have an example of these two patterns so cant compare the overall shape. I do have a 06244 in jigged delrin 3 1/4 closed and a 22087 3 1/4 but it has both blades on the same end.
Just curious because I feel the need to add the 03244 and 32087 to the pile just because...you know...I have to...right?

They’re basically the same. I’m not sure anyone knows why Case did that. The original 44 pattern has square bolsters but they introduced the 06244 having rounded bolsters, using the 087 frame. Then later they started making it with yellow handle covers (03244). In his book Steve Pfeiffer says in 1987 Case changed the pattern number to 32087 PEN. Case has made the 087 stockman since the Tested era. Just another Case mystery.

Correct, and also during the Tested era Case made the 06244 both with square bolsters (like the 6244 jack but in a penknife configuration) and with round bolsters.Mumbleypeg wrote: ↑Wed Mar 03, 2021 3:45 am They’re basically the same. Seems that starting with XX they made the 06244 only with round bolsters. The 06244 continued in production until it was discontinued in 1979.
The 03244 was first made in 1976 though oddly for that time it was not in the catalog or price lists until some years later.

Re: 03244 vs 32087
I'm confused. 087 jacks and Stockmans with rounded ends have been made at least off and on for almost forever. As recently as last year SMKW and Tractor Supply were still selling new 6344 Stockmans with square ended bolsters. Both are probably still selling them. Even when they are the same length and both have a serpentine shape I do not see patterns with rounded ends as "basically the same" as patterns with square ends. It sounds like in the past either Case employees mis-stamped some 087s or the company was inconsistent on what number to assign handle patterns. Queen was worse than Case at the later.

Thanks again
So now I need a 06244 with square bolsters as well as the 03244 and 32087.....love it, this is fun
