New Zippo Stamped Knives?

The W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Company has a very rich history that began in 1889 when William Russell (“W.R.”), Jean, John, and Andrew Case began fashioning their knives and selling them along a wagon trail in upstate New York. The company has produced countless treasures and it continues to do so as one of the most collected brands in the world.

New Zippo Stamped Knives?

Post by cody6268 »

Case (and possibly others) made Zippo knives until about 10-15 years ago, and there were only three patterns, a small gentleman's knife with nailfile (with or without money clip), a small lockback, and a medium lockback. Both the lockbacks had Zytel cousins. I am guessing Zippo owning Case was part of the reason the knives were retired. I noticed Case now has a number of knives exclusive to the advertising market (green Delrin Sodbuster Jr., royal blue Delrin 18 Medium Stockman).

Noticed in a Shepherd Hills email, a huge selection of knives with Zippo tang stamps and shields.

Most seem like common patterns, but the red Delrin one-blade Trapper, and the prevalence of red Delrin and single blades on models not typically offered that way also is unique.

I noticed this blurb:
First Time Offered in USA Limited Quantities Available
Does that mean these were offered in a specific country? Or are these just Shepherd Hills SFOs?

Shepherd Hills seems to only show them on the web version of the email. And I see no reference to them elsewhere.

Case occasionally offers exclusive Customer Appreciation knives; perhaps that's what these are? ::shrug::
I don't know where (what country) or exactly when they were first offered, but I ordered all three of the Zippo shield single-blade (_107) mini trappers:

I think "First time offered in the USA" is just a marketing gimmick.

Wow, that is quite the assortment?!! So, I presume red Delrin is a Shepherd Hills exclusive?

I'm probably just buying the red bone single-blade Trapper; mostly as I know it will be a slim carry.

And ironically, not the M1310L; a model that started life as a Zippo; in the form of the Cut About Jr. It is also the only model Case produced for Zippo that survives in the lineup. The full-size version was also produced as Case, but discontinued several years ago. You'd think Case would've made this one with a Zippo print on the front scale. I'd love for the small "pocket knife" with pen and nailfile blades to return. It is, by far, the perfect fifth-pocket knife.

On another note, how did I miss these? I thought I'd thoroughly read the December catalog, and didn't notice them. Sure enough, there they were.

My only Zippo knives. I found the Luck Stone in the middle of the street while shoveling snow a dozen years ago. The CSX was given to me by my uncle.

Nice!

Norfolk and Southern mostly used Schrades (though in more recent years, they've been Chinese knives); including those made for my local division; so they fit in pretty well with my collection. Love the locomotive on that one!

Today, Jerry received the SMKW catalog with all the Zippo branded knives in it. Not interested BUT I am interested in the Barnboard Jigged Burnt Cream Bone Mini-T & the Wharncliffe Copperhead. I hope they're still around come January.

Here's two that you won't find in any catalog (thanks to Lansky1 John), or buried under snow in the middle of the street (sorry 1967redrider John)

Nice, Q!

I just ordered a 3 pack of Zippo knives since they were on sale with free shipping. 🎅🎄🦌☃️🔪

I really like the color and jigging on the mini-trapper, reminds me of old Ulster scales.
