Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Hello gents,
I have two here and a few questions. The cigar pattern I can't find a pattern number from my research but it has definately been cleaned and is in beautiful working order. And second the 1173 I know isn't an original nor does it seem to be from the 80s even though it seems to have the 1935ish stamp. It has bone handles and they are very worn but mismatched, and there seems to be a cavity under the bullet. Both blade have very strong delightful pulls and half stops. Even if it's a fake it's an awesome pocket knife. Any info would be appreciated.

Picked up a R6404, quite a nice knife, 3 3/8". the pearl looks perfect, all blades marked with a Remington UMC stamp so I think that makes this an early knife. Seems to be a rare pattern, the only illustration I can find shows it with a pen instead of punch.

No it is not getting into any pocket, might not be perfect, I just can’t seem to take a good photo. Same knife still looks bad and I have not done any “pocket shining “

I just picked this one up... ::paranoid:: looks like I'm a collector now... ::paranoid:: uh maybe... ::paranoid::

Two tang stamps; looks like a 1921-24 and a 35'-40' ::hmm:: any one know if there was an "overlap" of tang stamps? What the "Pros" here date this knife at?

You know, for the tonnage of knives Remington cranked out pre-WWII, they had decent quality control. ::tu:: ::tu::
