Where Are All The Remington Knife Collectors?

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

I swear, every Remington Barlow that I come across was owned by the same guy that used his grinder instead of a whetstone.

Thanks, I almost forgot. An added bonus. It still has a very faint etch that can be seen if the lighting is right. :)

I picked up a pretty good throw-down IMO. A good size at
3-3/4” and plenty of meat still on the bone.

I found this knife in the garage at an estate sale, it was in really rough shape and the smaller blade had been hit with a bench grinder. It looked like junk but when I opened it and felt the half-stop and the snap, it just felt great!

So I grabbed it and now I'm a little obsessed with Remington pocket knives. Its got no shield and the plastic handle says "New England Whaler"; its got the 1933-1935 italicized stamp on the main blade. The pen blade is salvaged and holds a good edge.

I gather that half-stop is common with Remington, the spring on this thing just feels perfect (although, I have to be pretty careful opening the shorter blade). When I searched "half-stop" on the main AAPK page, most of the hits were in this thread. Why don't more pocket knives have a half-stop? Are they more common in older knives? Anyway I'm feeling lucky and maybe I'll get lucky again.
