Remington Rxxx6 (stag)

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Here are a few for a look see. The lighting does not do justice to the real fire and beauty in these pearl handles!

Now I know that a few of the fixed blades are not Remington, However before I settled into the Remington collection...I collected around 350 or so other knives. These are just a sample of a few. Anyone know Butch Taylor? He makes one mean knife! ::sneaky::

The other photos are of my photo box, my knife cleaning station and my other passion...my music. Been playing since I was 12 years old. Played in a few bands, made an album with the Gregory Folks Singers and sang on T.V. for a while on the California Tonight Show on the CBS network. Long time ago in a land far, far away. ::nod:: ::tu::

Your all right Rocky. You just got caught up in the excitement of talking about Remington knives. Your knives look great. Especially like the gunstocks.

Heck. Your famous, playing music on tv, writing articles. What else you been hidding from us?

LOL Keith, as the "ol sayin' goes," if I hav'ta tell ya everything..I'd hav'ta to...well you know." I've been a jack of all trades at times and managed over the years to master a few... If truth be told and I shared everything I've had a finger/hand or foot in...well folks would consider me pushin' the truth a bit, let's just say I am living a full and diversified life thus far. The good Lord gave me a few talents and the desire to try them out. We'll leave her at that.

Thanks Roger. You have seen a lot of different knives. Have you ever seen a cork screw that operates that way?

I believe a few years back there was a thread somewhere on AAPK on bartenders/champagne knives, and if memory serves there was the same or similar knife.

The can opener is interesting also. I would have thought it would have the same style as the scout knives they made. But different

Nice knife! Glad you got it. I have seen that model or a very similar one in pearl. Also the "can opener" may be designed to remove the covering from the top of wine bottles?

R4334 pearl and R4336 are in the books as bartenders knives and champagne knives. Blades listed as spear, pen, champagne hook, caplifter, and cork screw. So maybe the champagne hook is the "can opener"?

Hey Keith , that R7766 is really nice. What a find. I believe they refer to knives like this one as “ hen’s teeth “. Lol and congratulations. John

Keith that bullet is awesome but the little serpentine whittler above it doesn't lack any charm.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

R3513, interesting, its marked to have bone but has stag. I dont have any reference for Remington making this pattern in stag. But its dang sure stag?? Doesn't appear to be rehandled and looks like Remington stag to me.
