Remington stuff (except knives)

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Here is the (extensive) Remington knife section in the 1932 McClung Hardware catalog from Knoxville TN.

Those are nice and very informative. Looks like they are the same or near same pictures that were copied by the authors in some of the Remington catalogs and Remington reference guides. Very nice! ::tu::

Thanks guys! One thing that is odd about this McClung catalog is that ONLY Remington Knives are featured. McClung sold many brands including their own house knife brand. A collector told me that wholesalers would sometimes sell catalog space to companies to exclusively feature their products.

Mountainad82 got me looking threw some of my catalogs and I think this one is a little different. It's not very many pages so I thought I'd just take pictures of them all for you to enjoy.

Adam, seems every time I turn around I'm seeing something different Remington put out. The grape fruit knife cost me $4, it's nice that these little odd pieces don't break the bank.

Keith this is what I have learned... when I participate heavily in the forum and play with my collection in taking pictures for a “ look see”. I become overwhelmed with the urge to expand my collection even further to my wife’s dismay because she is worried I will spread into another room LOL! So I have to take these sabbaticals to look for the more rare and unique Remington items that requires sometimes more than pocket lent and a few coins. Still watching and really enjoying the Remington show from you and the boys. ::facepalm:: ::paranoid:: ::tu::
