Remington pyremite

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington pyremite

Post by espn77 »

There has been a lot of discussion in other forums on the stability of celluloid. At the beginning of my knife collecting I didn't like celluloid but as my appreciation for Remington increases I've started to enjoy the different patterns and look of the pyremite knives. Here are a few of the ones I have. Hope you will share yours too.

There are some real beauties in that group ESPN.

How do you store them?

Nice knives, Espn! My favorites are the two doglegs, numbers three and eight in your first post. I do not have any Remingtons to contribute here. I can understand the attraction of celluloid: I have a few myself.

Hmmm.
I asked because I just bought the sister knife to your Black, and white (#5) from Deo-pa. It is my second celluloid knife, and I haven't determined how to store them other than segregation.
I am considering individual clear plastic cases. ::shrug::

To each his own. I have my own theory that isn't very scientific so I offer no real advice other than enjoy the knives in your collection.

Truly beautiful cell, Keith; thanks for showing them. I keep most of my cell knives in cigar boxes with blades open and the lid cocked a bit, bone-dry room, zero sunlight, on a shelf so I can pluck down a box and coonfinger them any time. I do have a few with better longevity reputation in with other knives in cases. Cracked ice and yaller are risky.

Allowing any (potential) gassing to escape...
Maybe I'll drill a few 1/8" holes in the plastic cases. ::hmm::

I go to North Carolina one a year to pickup more Remington stuff, I guess I need to do it during your show. I've seen pictures of your display and there are many knives in your display I have never seen.
