Reminington RH30

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Who made the RH30s and are they valuable?

Remington made the RH30 and if in good condition they can bring a nice amount of money. That knife isnt seen all that often. It should look like the knive on the bottom right corner. My sheath front isn't original.

OOH, that's a nice display!! Can't believe you don't have a mint sheath for that RH30! Like already said, in fine condition with original sheath they can command some money. Condition though is everything and one in poor condition won't bring much. How about a nice photo of yours? I only have four of them but I know a couple are buried too far to dig out and photo.

Hi, gentlemen. The question about the sheath reminds me of the two rh30's that i have. I bought a decent used one off the bay several years ago but the sheath was in terrible condition. So several months later i was surfing remingtons on e-bay again and saw a really beat up rh30 but the sheath was in great shape so i bought the knife and sheath for very little money. Nice original knife and nice original sheath.Problem solved. The rh30's are beautiful knives and great steel. Really hold an edge and sharpen like a razor! Hard to beat remington steel! happy collecting, Randy

Well, thanks Gene for making me take a closer look at my knife. It appears the hair was only sowed ontop of the sheath ::facepalm::
I've owned this knife for about 7 years. What a dumb $#@ I am. Lol

Thanks for the info ya'll. Never have figured out how to post pics here.Any way I'm headed up to Tulsa to see if I can do some trading and wondered if I should drag it along. To Gunsil, I'm the guy that owns the goofy KA-BAR blade trader that's missing the fork. Have'nt found one yet but still looking. I also have some other Remingtons but don't know much about them including a 73p,74,50,51 and an rh4 in mint condition. I can send photos email and text if any is interested before they head to the trading barn. Thanks again guys.

Looks much better Keith!! But I seem to see scratches on the blade. I think I may have one or two cleaner than that if you need one.

RLP always drag as much as you can along to shows if you have stuff to sell or trade. You never know who may be looking for what you have.

As always Jim you have a great collection! I have one that has a full blade but it has a well seasoned patina. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I just love Remington fixed blade knives. It was what I started collecting before the boys out knives. Few left for me to find other than variations or special orders.
