Holy Grail of pocket knifes and noone believes me!!!!!

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Holy Grail of pocket knifes and noone believes me!!!!!

Post by Drewmonies »

:D Oringal Muskrat R4466 bullet knife. Best condition ive ever seen and the others were probably fakes or really bad conditions pics online. Please I need help and dont want to bring this to anyone but a authenticator or Auctioneer. I can submit as many pics as you would like and I know this is the real deal. Got it from my father and he has owned it his whole life almost. It was valued at 5000 in the late 90s and then became a unicorn that noone believes or maybe pull a switcheroo with a 1988. Its time to sell and I don't have a clue of value or who????

Hello again, welcome back. I’m sure many here would like to see your knife but you’ve never posted pictures of it. Here’s a link that will take you to your previous post from several months ago. viewtopic.php?f=17&t=10754&p=801894#p801894 Below it is my reply advising how to post pictures. You’ll probably get some replies if you post some pictures of the knife. We like pictures here. :lol:

If you want to sell it here you need to purchase a membership which is easy to do and not expensive. Just click on the box that says “Support AAPK” on the upper right of this page. After you buy a membership you can post the knife in the Knives for Sale or Trade forum. viewforum.php?f=49. This post is in the “how to” forum, not in a forum where you’re likely to get many viewers.

Good luck. ::tu::

Ditto what Ken said. Like coins...condition is everything. Minor things can have a big impact on value. There are a lot of knowledgeable people, here (not me)...that are willing to help.

Remington Bullet knives are valuable and as such there are many fakes 'out there'. Some of the fakes could be as much as 50 years old by now and some of them are very well done. It takes an experienced Remington Bullet collector to spot the better made fakes.
You need to post multiple in focus pictures: blades open and blades closed, both sides, and a picture of the knife spine with both blades fully open to show how blade tangs and spring line up. All pics must be taken from directly overhead. No angled pictures.
If you do this, there are people here who can give you an accurate answer about your knife's authenticity.

Not sure if there's a way to make your picture post. ::shrug:: When posting a reply, you need to click the Attachments tab below, let the pop-up go to your camera or files on your device and then upload by selecting the photo(s) that way. This thread might help you;

Also, when you figure out how to post...refer to kootenay joe's reply on the different pictures to post. A single picture will not be as helpful in determining condition and authenticity.

Their are several threads with pictures of the r4466 so most hard core Remington collectors know it really exists , rare indeed .

The gentleman sent me a picture of it. Here it is.
Your knife should have stag handles instead of bone. The R4466 looks non factory to me. I wish I could give you better news but it doesn't look original to me.

I haven't seen a Remington pattern number stamped like that, they're usually pretty uniform in spacing and placement.

I worked on improving the picture a little bit. I’m far from a Remington expert but none of those I own, or have seen, have mis-aligned pattern stamps like this one has. I note also the peculiar “sway” at the grind line shoulder above the pattern stamp. It should be straight - not sure how you get one that’s curved like this one is, unless the tang has been grinded.::shrug::

Don't really need any more pictures. This one is enough. Sorry but no cigar.

I'd put it in my pocket, use it and have it as a nice reminder of my father.
