R6393 Splitback Whittler - No Bloodgroove
I have what I believe to be a R6393 from the 1921-1924 era without the Bloodgroove. Anyone know if Remington made the 6393 without the Bloodgroove? Wanting to make sure this knife is legit. See pics.

Honestly, the knife looks legit just no blood groove. I’ve never seen one like it.

Thanks for the reply, John. That says a lot coming from you. I’m new to the forum and recently saw your original post of your collection. Seriously impressive, man.pearlroosterman wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 12:27 pm Honestly, the knife looks legit just no blood groove. I’ve never seen one like it.

Little grinder kick on the back side of the master blade.

Yes. The Master has a couple grinder kicks. One at the point of the tang and another just in front of the pull. I thought maybe someone ground out the bloodgroove, but if that happened, the blade would be really misshaped. Also, the tang stamp is right in the middle. The other 6393s with the bloodgroove have the stamp off-center, under the groove.

Yes, you are right. I looked in a old Sargents book and the blood groove went into the tang area. Just a neat old knife.buckshot22 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 5:09 pmYes. Blood groove is on both sides and into the tang. Small circle logo below groove and small 6393 below back groove.
Your knife is legit though. I have one that is a wreck but still shows pattern number and looks like yours. No groove. I am guessing the grooved ones are by far the most common.

Thanks for the info, Remumc. Is yours from the '21-'24 era too? I'm wondering if that's the difference between groove/no groove. BuckRemumc wrote: ↑Fri Jan 07, 2022 6:46 am Blood groove is on both sides and into the tang. Small circle logo below groove and small 6393 below back groove.
