Remington Boys knife with bail and chain

The Remington Corporation and the knives that they built have influenced the U.S. cutlery industry more than nearly any other manufacturer. From the time America was settled, to the end of WWI, American knife companies struggled to compete with Britain and German imports, but events that occurred during and after the First World War led to a great change in this phenomenon. Unprecedented opportunities arose, and Remington stepped up to seize the moment. In the process, they created some of today's most prized collectables. In an ironic twist, the next World War played the greatest role in ending the company’s domination of the industry.

Remington Boys knife with bail and chain

Post by SteveC »

I picked this up as part of a knife lot . It's in unused condition with factory edges and the original chain. Synthetic jigged handles, great walk and talk. There is a tiny chip in the master blade at the tip and some minor pitting on the back of the master blade. Chain is in good shape with a couple of links in the middle with some rust. I'm looking for opinions on what the possible value is on this knife ?

Thanks

A similar one with chain and box (not sure if the box is original) in what looks to be excellent condition sold a few months ago on ebay for $166. https://www.ebay.com/itm/403601311301?h ... R6ro79TeYQ

I didn’t find it either when I searched for “Remington Boys Knife” - all it found were Remington Boy Scout knives. Then I searched for “Remington knife with chain” and found it. Sometimes you have to try several different descriptions, and the most obvious doesn’t work. ::shrug::
