My brother's knee surgery

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

My brother's knee surgery

Post by Reverand »

My younger brother had knee replacement surgery a week ago Tuesday. He was in the hospital several days extra due to severe pain. Things got better and he came home on Monday and was progressing well.
Then his knee began swelling yesterday, and by this morning his entire leg was black and swollen.
He is back in the hospital and they still have not yet found a cause - no blood clots and no signs of infection so far. They are planning to do surgery again to see if they can determine what is happening.
Please pray for his healing and comfort, and for wisdom and guidance for his doctors.
His name is Tony. He is a Believer and our Lord has drawn him even closer during this time, but I love my brother and pray for his physical healing, too.
Jesus is life.
Everything else is just a hobby.

Sorry to hear this, my knee replacement went well but the physical therapy was torture. It was so bad I went back to work. My doctor told me I went back to work sooner than any patient he ever had after a knee replacement.

Reverand your brother is in the right place. Close monitoring
and interventions ( like another surgery if needed) hopefully will put
him back on the road to recovery. Watch him carefully
and he will soon be on a better road.

Prayers sent.

I'm lifting Tony up in prayer asking for the Great Physician to intervene and provide him relief from the pain and complete healing from his surgery.

Update: Tony got to come back home today!
We still have no answers on what happened, but trusting to the Lord that he can begin healing from this.
He has been through many tough times in his life. He fell off of a ladder at work years ago and permanently messed up his back. He lives in pain, and the limp from his injury caused him to prematurely wear out his good knee. Hence the surgery.
He has struggled through many illnesses, and has lost two of his four children, years apart. But his faith just gets stronger.
My brother and I hated one another growing up. About the only thing I got whipped for as a child was fighting with him.
Now he is my best friend.
Thank each of you for praying for him. And I appreciate it if you would still intercede with prayer for him when he cones to your mind.
Jesus is life.

I hope he'll get better soon! Such problems are related to histology because it studies the microscopic anatomy of biological tissues. I found a lot of interesting info on this source https://quizzes.studymoose.com/flashcards/histology/ so I would recommend you ask for help from the doctors that work with it. Be strong!

::hmm:: This is why I'm putting off knee surgery. Heard of too many horror stories, my neighbor had his done 3 years ago and is still having problems. There are others that said I had it done and feel great. But why take a chance. ftd

Thank you, all. You made me realize that I have given no updates He is slowly improving. Very slowly, but improving. His surgeon still has no idea what the problem was.
My brother's biggest hurdle now is that his knee has healed thus far without much movement, so the physical therapy is a bit more brutal than normal. He perseveres, and yesterday morning he came to church for the first time in 6 weeks. He walked in to applause.

Glad your brother is on the mend Reverand!
At our age, it takes a while longer to heal up than when we were younger.
God still has a plan for your brother!

My wife has had both replaced . The surgery is tough but the rehab is what makes it really tough, and the outcomes are all based on how the rehab goes. We're blessed with a top notch replacement Dr. , but it still depends on the rehab. tough road for sure with your brother .

Thanks for the update.
