Jane's heart surgery

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Carol's double knee replacement went well but she is in considerable pain. She is sitting up. They almost gave her husband a sedative because he's a mess. Gayle had a allergic type reaction 10 minutes into her cemo and they had to stop and pump her full of Benadrill and some other stuff. Her face and tongue swelled way up and it was pretty scary. She doesn't know what this will do to her treatments. Several of our kids are coming home to sit with me on Thursday along with our minister. The week goes on. Thanks for all the prayers for this difficult week.___Dave

Dave,
Carol must be one tough gal! I've known several folks that did both knees at one time and it makes sense, now. You only have to rehab once, it'll be tough but then it's over. Sorry to hear of Gayle's reaction and of course we're still praying about the main event on Thursday.
God bless you, my friend.

Here's some faces to go with your prayers. Gayle is the middle girl and Carol is to the right. I'm the old one in the back with the scruffy beard. ___Dave

After the pre-op was all done and the operation was all set for tomorrow morning, the hospital detected a yeast infection and it's rescheduled for the 26th so we get to go home and start all the emotional waiting all over again. It's frustrating but we left it all in God's hands and trust Him to know best. Carol is doing well and is moving to Re-hab. tomorrow and is off most all the pain meds. I haven't heard from Gayle yet concerning any plans on her Cemo. reaction either to try to continue it or stop treatment until they can figure out what is going on.___Dave

Dave,
Sorry to hear y'all have to go back into the waiting mode. At prayer meeting tonight we shared your week with our church. We did have prayer for the surgery tomorrow but as you say it's in the Lord's hands. We'll mention it again next week and then again on the 25th. I explained our knife forum friendship and how there are still some believers all across this great land.
God bless you as you wait.
Philip

Sorry to hear about the delay after your preparations. God knows best however and it's good that the doctors are being so thorough. Also, glad to hear Carol is doing well. My brother-in-law had double knee replacement about 10 years ago and has done well, if that's any encouragement for her. Continuing prayers for all.

It's been a really long day. Jane is through surgery and they repaired the valve in her heart and did some other minor repairs in the heart. The surgeon said it all went as planned with no surprises. Jane is in a lot of pain and very nauseated but I suspect this is normal. It will be several hours before the tubes come out so she can talk so I went home and will drive back up in a couple hours. It's suppose to snow tonight so I hope that doesn't screw things up for my travel. Thank you all for the prayer support. ___Dave

The doctors couldn't take the breathing tubes out of Jane's throat last night because her lungs weren't recovering enough. These are really uncomfortable and kind of a milestone to have removed after heart surgery. Hopefully this morning will be better. We got about 5 inches of wet heavy snow and driving is less than good. The first significant snow of the year always looks like people are driving bumper cars so my son is driving me to Duluth. They didn't have as much snow by the lake but I hear Duluth made the national news for wind and wind damage along the lakewalk. Thanks for your prayers and especially for continued prayers. ____Dave
