Answered Prayers for Treefarmer & Miss Joy

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Glad to hear that Phil and Joy are safe. The pictures coming out of the panhandle are horrible. OH
Ps if any of you bought a new generator better check that 240V connection - I discovered my new Briggs & Stratton generator has a NEMA L14-R30 receptacle, many water pumps, etc. use the old L6-20 configuration and the generators don't come with the plug.
Deep in the guts of most men is buried the involuntary response to the hunter's horn, a prickle of the nape hairs, an acceleration of the pulse, an atavistic memory of his fathers, who killed first with stone, and then with club...Robert Ruark

Phil and Miss Joy's daughter drove up to their house from Panama City the evening of the hurricane. I wonder if she had a home to go back to or can even go back yet. ___Dave

Dave, were you able to get a hold of Phil directly?
When I talked to him he said all of the phone service was down, including the landline which normally makes it through hurricanes, and of course electricity and Internet service was also down. He seemed to think that it would be weeks before they would even have electricity.
Hopefully things are getting back to normal faster down there than they anticipated.

No Dale, Phil said this in on of his posts the evening of the storm. He said they had convinced her that she would be safer at their house and had made it up there. I was glad to read the post because they said she lived in Panama City. After that I didn't s anything else posted. We only talked in PM's.

Praise the Lord, we just got our power back! We are fine, just a little frazzled from "camping out" for 11 days and 23 hours.
Just got done wiring the well back up and doing away with all the extension cords to the freezers and refrigerators. Our son brought us another generator a few days ago and that made the ordeal more palatable, not having to roll the generator back and forth from the well to the house. I finally realized I could tow it with the golf cart. ::dang::
Thank you Dale for reporting our status to the fine folks on the forum!. ::handshake::
We had no damage to our house, thank the Lord! Our pump house was damaged by a very large old growth Long Leaf Pine that fell due East. Had it gone the direction of the majority of the pines it would have fell to the South and taken out a transformer pole, snatched the service/meter from the wall and then fell on the house. It was the hand of God directed that big ol' pine to fall without destroying our well, pressure tank and controls! It was also His hand that allowed the Live Oak and Pine next to our house to still be standing!
I want to say thank you to each of you who commented on our condition and prayed for us! I've been through many hurricanes over my 70+ years but never one like this. Our daughters place in Panama City had a broken sliding glass door, she has someone else's roof in her back yard but they got water back fairly soon and also power a few days ago. Our son in Thomasville, GA lost power for several days but no damage. Our last stand of 35 year old pines are a real wreck, it is what it is. ::tu::
The phone line and DSL are acting strange but that too will pass.
It's good to be back on the forum!

Welcome back Phil, glad to see you and Joy made it through without *too* much hassle. All the stories coming out of northern FL were giving me flashbacks to Wilma in 2005 and spending 26 days with no power. It sure did knock the will for "camping" out of me for quite a long time...

My best to your neighbors still digging out and putting everything back together.
