Jenny is released

There are times in each of our lives that rain falls, hard times come and it helps to reach out to our friends and to our God for a little support. This is the place to express those needs, concerns and situations so others in the AAPK family can keep you in their prayers.

Jenny is released

Post by tongueriver »

It's a tough day here, guys; I don't think I could go through this one again. The vet helped her out of her suffering. 16 1/2 years, all but the last 1/2 year was a great joy to me. It was so hard to let her go, but in the end it was a kindness to her. Pictures are her at 3 weeks and at 60 days. I have posted other images of her elsewhere before. I am drinking whiskey now.

Cal, I am so sorry about your loss. Jenny looks like a sweetheart. I know how hard it is. We are on our 5th dog now. Every time we lose one, I say never again. But of course that doesn't last long. The best medicine is getting another puppy, and, of course, the whiskey you are currently sipping.

Cal, I'm sorry to hear about Jenny. She surely was a beauty! They can bring years of joy to our lives and incredible heartaches we have to let them go.
We had to put down my wife's Lhasa Apso last week. She was about three months, from her 15th birthday. I can certainly sympathize with you in your grief. ::teary_eyes::

Stay strong my friend. ::handshake::

Cal it saddens me to see you suffering this loss of a family member and friend. Many of us have walked in your shoes and know the pain. It still racks me with overwhelming grief at times and it’s been a year and a half on one dog and 1 3/4 year on another one. We lost two members of our pack in 2019. Dogs are only with us for a short time, you have to love every minute you get with them. Try to make those precious times last in your memories for all time.
As Caesar said on his Dog Whisperer show, when one dog leaves your life it makes room for another dog that wouldn’t have had the chance to live with you. Loss of a dog opens the door to another dog.

So sorry. It is the harsh price we must pay for loving our dogs.
Worth it though.

I agree Froe, well worth it!

I know a guy who was released from prison 20 years ago. Very rough life, multiple prison sentences, multiple felonies etc. He decided he needed to get clean and sober and get a dog. For almost 20 years he's been walking a dog. The first two dogs have died and he had them cremated. He is their ashes in urns at his house. He had to give the third dog to someone who can handle him because the dog pulled him down and broke his hip. Once he recovers enough to walk again, he intends to get a small dog. None of his friends will let him get a large dog again. :D

That's all background information but it's helpful to understand where my friend comes from when he says; "Dog spelled backwards is G-O-D: unconditional love."
Knowing his background, his dogs were probably his first encounter with real love since he was a kid.

Cal I feel for you. I've been down that very rugged road myself, so I know. I'll raise my glass and salute Jenny and pray for your broken heart to heal.

Cal, here is a post by Ken (Mumbleypeg) several years ago at the time one of his dogs came to the end of the trail.
The excerpt from an article in an issue of Ducks Unlimited spoke volumes to me. Thought y'all might find a bit of comfort in these words: https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... &start=945
