Old W.Greaves & Sons Straight Razor
Old W.Greaves & Sons Straight Razor
I picked this rascal up about a year ago at a local flea market, put it in my safe, and forgot about it until a few months ago when I ran across it looking for something else I started doing a little research on it and discovered that I might really have something From what I've been able to piece together it was made between 1826 and 1850 in England It has a much larger blade than any other straight razor that I have seen. For as old as it is,it appears to be in remarkably good shape. The blade has an excellent patina with no pitting,or nicks in the cutting edge at all,but it could use a good cleaning which I am not even going to attempt because I don't want to mess it up. The handle appears to be some kind of horn, and there appears to be an Ivory bushing between the handles on the end of it. The only thing that I can see that would keep this old razor from being mint is a small chip on the very end of one handle. I saw one sell on ebay that was not in as good a shape as this one for $125.00,and I saw another one like it that had been restored advertised at $210.00 I hope someone can come along and tell me more about it Razor
Praise the Lord and Pass the Ammo! I live in my own little world. But it's OK. They know me here!
