Hello
I recently acquired a CS Trapper that has a 5th year shield. From reading on this site I believe it was made for the 5th year of production. My question is on the bolster is engraved/stamped the number "49". Were these a limited run? Also is this Walnut?
Thanks for any help.

I don't know the answer but what a beautiful knife ! I would like to see a picture with blades open if you have time to take one.

Sure, here you go.
Re: CS 5th Year Trapper
Most all Canal Street knives were limited runs, usually no more than 400 and often times considerably fewer. There are several patterns and handle materials that bear that 5th year shield. I'm not sure what the wood is but I suspect it may be something a little harder than walnut. Hopefully our resident Canal Street expert, ea42 will be able to provide more detailed info.
BTW if you ever decide to part with that one.............

Looks like a ( fifth anniversary ) 2009 Trapper with Mexican Bocote scales -- don't know how many they made ?? -- most of the anniversary knives were like Phil said ( Limited to 400 or so pcs. )

That's a cool piece of knife history right there, thanks for posting.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!
