Dating BULLDOGS

would a knife that was produced in 1986 have a 1985 English steel blade on it?

I suppose it could. English Steel Blades were only dated 1985 and 1986 in the 1st generation. The new style trappers and Jumbo Congress knives generally had the 1985 stamp whereas the canoes. small congress and the barlows had the 1986 stamp. I believe the release dates may be different on some of the congress knives but am not sure if that was when they were actually produced. Hope this helps.

Probably should have mentioned that Bulldog used older dated blades a lot in the 2nd generation. Those were probably produced around 1991 after Jim Parker bought the rights to the brand.
