BULLDOG SEAHORSE WHITTLER

Post by Quick Steel »

4" , This BD is, imo, an elegant piece. It is 5th generation; double dogs' head. F&F are excellent. Only the Presentation Grade BDs can surpass it.
What immediately struck me was how exceptionally comfortable this knife is in hand. Honestly, I do not ever recall a knife being so perfectly fitted to my particular paw. An almost sensual experience. Drop the "almost."

That is a beauty. The stag is terrific on that, especially the back.

That is a very fine knife, Quick Steel. I agree with Mark that the stag on the back side is especially good. I have a couple of those Bulldog whittlers and I agree with you that they are comfortable in the hand. Great knives!

As always Mark and Mel, your comments are appreciated. Mel have you posted a photo of your seahorse whittler? If so, where will I find it?

Very glad you like it Colonel. I've long thought that the Solingen Bulldogs are one of the great and little known values in traditional pocket knives.

I am sure I have posted a couple of photos in the past, but here are my three Bulldog Whittlers.
Three Bulldogs
Three Bulldogs
The top one has MOP handles. The bottom one is bone jigged to look like stag, I think. The middle one ... I kind of think it is PPP (Pachyderm proboscis protector), though it was just called white by the seller.

The bottom knife has a slightly smaller frame than the other two: it is 3 7/8" while the others are 4 1/8".

Beautiful knife. I own a few 1st gen Bulldog's and the only Seahorse whittlers I have are by Case. Quality looks really good on these. Will definitely need to add one to my collection.

Thanks for the comments, fellows. QS commented about the excellent F&F on his Bulldog. Let me add that walk and talk is pretty well perfect on my three. They have a bit of snap, but no nail breakers.
