Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
I ran across this Doctors knife on ebay and it had my favorite handles so it came home with me. Not the best ivory of any of my Bulldogs but acceptable. Thanks for looking.

Nice pickup. I only have two ivory BDs, a small stockman and a larger stockman. One of these days, but not yet I am going to have to add a Doctors knife to the collection.

I was thinking that you got that trapper in ivory from Q. My memory isn't very good.Quick Steel wrote:Nice pickup. I only have two ivory BDs, a small stockman and a larger stockman. One of these days, but not yet I am going to have to add a Doctors knife to the collection.

dog, your memory far surpasses mine. What I referred to as a small stockman is of course the trapper; a lovely knife I like a lot.

QS, I think it stuck in my mind as it is such a lovely knife. Glad you have it.Quick Steel wrote:dog, your memory far surpasses mine. What I referred to as a small stockman is of course the trapper; a lovely knife I like a lot.
Thanks Mel, I like Dr. knives and to get it in ivory was a thrill.
Re: Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
Nice knife. Great to have it in a Doctors pattern. I have two Bulldog Ivory Trappers. One has a very, very small hairline crack from the badge shield on the mark side, and the other has a very, very small hairline crack on the reverse side. If I trusted myself to remove and install two of those gorgeous scales without ruining them or worsening the problem, I could have a perfect knife and a mighty impressive EDC. But, I don't trust myself.

Re: Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
hardman, did you put any wax or other treatment on the scales?
Re: Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
Yes, I do. Mostly Renaissance Wax. The hairline cracks mentioned above were present when I bought the knives. The price was right. The hairlines have not worsened at all since I bought them some years ago.

Would love to see pic's of them hardman. I'm kind of partial to Bulldogs and especially ivory.
Re: Bulldog Doctor's in ivory
I will try doglegg. I have not posted pictures on this site in a while. But, if they turn out, the first two pictures show the mark and reverse sides of the Bulldog Ivory Trapper with the small hairline crack near the badge shield. The last two pictures show the mark and reverse side of the Bulldog Ivory Trapper where the mark side is fine, but there is a hairline center pin crack on the reverse side.

Thanks Gary, you have two great looking knives. I've found Bulldogs to be good quality and love the handles on yours.

I have four Bulldog Doc's. One of them has white handles. Is it Ivory? I never thought it was and wouldn't have a clue how to check.
