HOYT AXTON BULLDOG
This Presentation Bulldog was the property of singer-songwriter-actor Hoyt Axton. Similar to most presentation knives the dagger blade is not sharpened. The blade etch reads ONE EYED JACKS. Possibly this is the title of one of his songs. I am not familiar with his work.

I'm a huge Hoyt Axton fan but don't recall ever hearing a song called "One Eyed Jack(s)". We lost a great one when he made the trip.

I too am a huge Hoyt Axton fan. He died way too young. He has a great catalog of songs.
May I ask about the provenance on the knife?

Sorry to sidetrack your thread but you can't expect to mention Hoyt Axton without getting some of his music.
Of all my favorite Hoyt Axton songs, I think this is my most favorite (today).

Re: HOYT AXTON BULLDOG
tunefink, I bought it thru the AG Russell Cutting Edge catalog. The only information provided was that he gave the knife to a retired mayor. Possibly of his home town? Probably it was from this man's family that it was consigned to AG Russell. I believe at least one side of the stag handle was replaced.
I am glad to see that Mr. Axton's name brings up good memories for so many.

So now today and yesterday I've been listening to some of Axton's music for the first time. He has a very smooth easy delivery that I like.

Beautiful dagger. I don't think I've ever seen a fixed blade Bulldog. Any idea on the year?

Re: HOYT AXTON BULLDOG
Well, Bulldog began in 1978 and Axton had his stroke in 1995. But those are the only two date markers I can come up with and he might have parted with the knife after his stroke. All we can be sure of is that it could not have been earlier than 1978.
