Yeah, I know they’re few and far between but I figured Id post here in case anyone had one in their shed or barn. I actually have a functional rifle but the nylon stock is broken badly so I’m looking to replace the stock.
I noticed a few stocks just went up on E-bay but the traditionally go for $150-$200. And for a rifle that cost me considerably less than $100 new I have a tough time justifying that much cash for a used part.
Thanks.

Jeffin,
Just a short tale about a brown Nylon 66. Back in the mid 70's we were farming a spot by the local airport, up and down both sides of the dirt/grass runways and a small field at the south end of the asphalt runway. Back in those days foxes weren't protected and I had spotted a pair of Reds several times near the field. I wanted a Red Fox pelt, grays were much more common.
Well, ol' bright boy me, took my saddle scabbard off my saddle and hooked it to one of the rear fender lights and tied the bottom to a hydraulic line and stuffed the 66 that was topped with a Weaver K2 in the leather scabbard and went to disking the soybean field. After 4 or 5 rounds I happened to notice my scabbard was swinging from the lower attachment and it was empty. At the other end of the field I found my Remington 66. The disk blades were 7 1/2" inches apart, the stock mostly withstood the blades with deep cuts 7 1/2" apart, but the barrel was bent with probably a 2" chord. Traded it a guy who tried to make a pistol out of it. Found another one at a hardware store, a trade in, had no sights for $20. Put another 'scope on it and did a better job hanging the saddle scabbard on the tractor fender. ::facepalm::

They were a reasonably priced rifle back in the day. But somehow they gained a reputation as a collectible so now the parts prices for things like stocks are ridiculously high.
Mine was in perfect condition until my son got ahold of it and used it as a wrestling prop (he assumed it wasnt a real rifle because of the plastic stock). Using it as a prop apparently involved writing all over it with permanent magic markers. At some point during their wrestle mania goofing around the stock got broke and the gun was returned to its resting place in my closet. I didn’t discover it until many years later :x .
I’m going to try to resurrect it this year. I don’t really shoot or hunt much anymore but it bugs me seeing it in its current state of disrepair. It’s just a matter of how much money I’m willing to pay to make it right.
