New Chestnut Ka Bar

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

New Chestnut Ka Bar

Post by RandyFew »

Kabar is selling new folding knives with a dogs head shield. They have the Reclaimed American Chestnut handles. The wood was purchased from Canal Street Cutlery. It was from the barn in Kentucky.

Has anybody purchased one of these knives? If so, what is your opinion? What other brand knives would you compare these to? They say that they are being built in the USA. Who's making them?

Were the knives themselves made by Canal or just the wood provided by Canal?

I just ordered a Chestnut trailing hunter for fun. Hard to find these days.
