Forged Wrench Knife

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Forged Wrench Knife

Post by 1967redrider »

Saw this on Twitter, the new Ka-Bar Forged Wrench Knife-
https://www.kabar.com/products/product.jsp?item=1119

I've seen custom forged wrench knives for a while now, pretty cool design and concept. ::nod::

Wrenches are supposedly D2, that's why you see a lot of them turned into knives.

Compared to a lot of the custom jobs, I think Kabar's attempt looks pretty clean. $55 is really reasonable, but I think I'll wait for the Black Friday/Cyber Monday 50% off everything sale Kabar runs.

I like it. ::nod:: Didn't even know they made something like that. I know some people make knives from Railroad spikes and files but I've never seen one made from a wrench.

Has some similarities to the knives from WW II era military surplus mess kits.

I like it but kind of wish it had a wrench end. I mean it's a wrench knife, shouldn't it have a wrench? Or at least turn that hole into a bottle cap opener.

My feeling is it is a knife disguised as a wrench. Sticking out of a pocket or tool pouch nobody would even question it. Actually having a wrench seems like a good idea, but would be dangerous to use. Imho.

Nothing but slick marketing ....

Nowhere does the description say it's made from an actual wrench.
It is simply made/forged to look like it was .
NOT the same thing .. .. .. .. ::huff::

I have one on the way from KnifeCenter, the only place I could find one in stock at a reasonable price point. Supposedly it's a neck knife but the sheath can be used different ways. I may use a different sheath and carry it differently. Since I use my back pocket for carrying tools when I'm working at the farm, this might work . . .

Arrived today. I added a chain from a Tops Tactical Pen. Has some unique forging marks, really has a wrench feel to it. I might try rigging up something so I can carry it in my back pocket.
