My new Kabar

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

My new Kabar

Post by CobraBill »

This is first Kabar knife that I own. I just received it in the mail today.
First thing I did is put a coat of oil on it, but it is a good condition knife.
Hope you like it.

That is nice, and the etch is beautiful. I have gathered up a few of the newer Ka-Bar's, but none with that etch. I am hoping someone can provide some information on the newer knives? I know some are Ka-Bar Collectors Club knives, but some are not? I read in an old thread, that Queen made some models. Is that true? Some seem to be regular Ka-Bar model numbers, and some seem to be a new date code model?

This is a newer KA-BAR made by Queen. I have not seen one quite like it before. Maybe a club knife?

It has SBC92 on the back of the blade, Ka-bar on the front.
#116 on the bolster. Not sure if the 92 is part of the mod# or year it is made.
It had brown bone handles.,and the Union Cutlery Company etching.
There are no club markings on it. And it came without a box.
It it in very good condition,
I paid 47$ plus shipping. Not sure if I paid too much. But I though it was cool, and I have seen dog head Kabars go for a lot more than that.
I had been bidding on Case coke bottle folding hunters 050 series, seen this and put a bid on and won.

I just picked this one up, I've been wanting a Ka-bar with the dog's head shield for a while now. Today seemed like the day. The dog looks pretty sassy to me! ::tounge::

That is a classy etch. I could do without some of the club etches etc. that a couple of mine have.

Got the knife on Saturday and it is gorgeous! It is a dark brown bone handle, perfect unsharpened condition, guess I'll call this one my ol' brown dog. :o

Well some day I hope you will have a greater day than that. I did.

The knife was Gorgeous Abalone but I even got a FREE one to go with it. After years of fun and trading here you may find a friend that adds a free knife with the trade and not tell you. Then its your turn to trade again and you stick in a FREE one for him. Thats even more fun then.... ::nod:: ::nod::

Good Ka Bars showing up... ::tu::

This is my latest one. I just had to have it....

Just, That is a nice one! More bark on the stag than mine. I really like like that model. Silky smooth, and a nice size.

Thank you for your comment.

I find a pattern like this one blade locker makes a super knife to use and pocket friendly. Back in the days when I was young and did not take care of a knife (like I should have) and keep the blades share. It was helpfully to have 2 of 3 blades. Just to find a sharp one to use. Now that I am old I find a one blade sharp knife works like a tank if it has a lock. The lock is a bit safer and a sharp blade works easer... Some times we learn the older we get..
