What KaBar do I have?

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

If your knife is 5 1/4", it is probably an 1177 pattern. What are the handles, wood or horn?

It is 5 1/4". They're wood handles. There's an 1177 on EBay but mine looks different,doesn't have 1177 on the tang & the end of the handle is different.There is a man & bear shield on mine which I haven't seen before.

There are several Kabar 1177s on eBay in the completed listings.
All are bare heads, but yours has a rear bolster.
It may have been in SFO (special factory order) for a Kabar dealer, jobber or distributor.
Nice-looking knife. ::tu::
