2 blade sway back jack. Aka LoomFixer.

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Thanks dogleg. It was a surprise when I opened the package, it's a lot bigger than I was expecting. Good snap, tight as can be. Nice blade shapes. I'm glad to have it, just wondering what it is. Here it is next to a Buck 110, to show it's size.

I thought it would be similar to the 1026, but this knife is on a different level.

Looks like a loomfixer. I collect the CASE version, but don’t have a Kabar yet. They’re great knives.

Is it a Tear Drop or Sway Back ? Looks like a S-B to me but that could be camera angle.

Sway back is probably the better description.

Case calls it a #17 Pattern. A few call it a "swayback jack", some call it a "Half Hawk" but most folks, like Cuz and me, call it a "Loom Fixer".

By the way, this is a "Tear Drop" also called a "Bullet End Jack".

I have that model of Kabar.
It has "KA BAR LOOMFIXER" hot-stamped into the plastic handles.
Great steel . ::tu::

Here it is, about halfway down the page. . . .

I got into loomfixer Knives a few years ago. I’d seen them and wanted one for a while, but I started having a lot of trouble with my hands due to some real bad Carpel Tunnel (sp?) issues. It got so bad before I had surgery that the loomfixer was all I could use with reasonable comfort. They’re one of the most comfortable to hold knife patterns I’ve ever come across.

Since getting my hands fixed I don’t carry one as much. Maybe I need to fix that.

If I don't keep a tight rein on myself, I could become a Loom Fixer Hoarder. ::uc::

Chris, your plastic handle Kabar with "Loom Fixer" on the handle is clearly a swayback jack. I say "clearly" because your directly overhead picture shows the backward curve of the handle. Names given by a manufacturer were for marketing reasons, a 'catchy' name to catch buyers. They did not care as much for accurate pattern names.

Yes definitely a sway back jack, not a teardrop. My fault I misspoke. I went back to edit the title

Since getting this knife and finding out about Loom fixers. I’ve bought another KaBar a Case and 3 Rough Riders. The KaBars are my favorite. I’ve got a lifetime supply of Loom Fixers and sway back Rope knives now!
