Orange handled hunter

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

Orange handled hunter

Post by chorizotaco »

Good morning

I recently got this KA-BAR USA model and I think it's a little short, does anyone have one that can verify that? I found an ad that I think has it, R99, and it's much longer. OAL is 6 3/8", blade is about 2 7/8". Thanks for any help.

You are correct on model Dan. The one you purchased has blade wear, probably a little re-shaping, and heavily buffed. It originally had a 3" blade and although some could have been ground to 2&7/8" the blade looks narrow like metal has been removed all along the cutting edge.
