I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

I GOT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Post by knife7knut »

Picked this up this afternoon from a good friend who bought it at the estate sale with all the KCC knives and then had buyer's remorse. He sold it to me for what he paid for it(sixty five dollars)and we are both happy.
The serial # is 274(0)and the only thing I could find wrong is one of the elastic straps that hold the knife in the case is broken.Pearl is beautifully fiery and without flaws as far as I can tell.A nice addition to my KA-BAR accumulation.

Wow! That's gorgeous! In my experience, finding unbroken/uncracked pearl out in the wild is really rare. Congrats!

Real MOP on a knife that large? That's the most remarkable thing about it. It seems, the fact that finding pieces that large is difficult, which is why it's usually seen on small knives. The two I own with real MOP (not madre de toilet seat/acrylic) are very small, under 3" closed.

Probably why they made less than 300 of these total. The pearl is really beautiful on this knife.
