New USSF Line

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

New USSF Line

Post by 1967redrider »

Anyone like the new line of USSF knives and products Ka-Bar is releasing. I bought shirts and hats for me and my best man for my wedding rehearsal. Now they have a folder, fixed blade and entry tool. The fixed blade already sold out on one website. Get them while you can!

Some are made in the USA (most fixed blades) , some are made in Taiwan (most folders and the TDI line except the TDI cane - USA), some in China (the cheapee 3 knife throwing set for example) , some clothing items are from places such as El Salvador, Bangladesh.

Every item on their website has the country of origin listed under the specs section.

At first I didn't like the blue, but the more I look at them the more I like them. To the point now that I will probably end up buying one of the fixed blades.

The Corser Folder is made in Taiwan.
The Bridge Breacher Tool is made in U.S.A.
The Fixed Blade is made in U.S.A. However, the sheath is made in Taiwan.

The total cost of all three from Ka-Bar is: $236.40
The total cost from SMKW is: $177.97 includes free delivery. (In stock at this time)
They can even be found for a few dollars less at other locations.

I think the Bridge Breacher would be a good tool for my farm work backpack. Don't know if the cutting part could replace a hatchet, however. But, it should be pretty decent for prying, hacking, and chopping aside from that.

Definitely gonna have to get the "Space-Bar" due to the bright blue handle. I like colors I can't lose.

The Corser--I like the handle color, but I'm still pretty lukewarm on tantos. Why not a Dozier?

I paid around $155 including delivery from GP Knives, but I think the fixed blade is sold out already. KnifeCenter has the trio, priced just slightly higher.

That's an excellent price. ::nod::
This assembly would make a beautiful shadow box display. Add the Ka-Bar patch and the official USSF patch.

I have the entire set of three now.
KaBar 1.jpg
Working on the shadow box display, I'll post soon when finished.

I know a few aapk members have purchased the KA-BAR 1313SF fixed blade.
If you want to add a little gripping power and eye candy to the handle just purchase a good quality #15 o-ring set.

I buy old for the most part. I can’t stand Kabar’s new knives and I dislike plastic.

I have no trouble believing that John, ::nod:: I don't have any Karambits and likely never will. No matter how hard I try I can't come up with a good use for them. ::shrug:: I suppose the original thinking was a slashing weapon, but seeing as I don't plan on doing a lot of slashing I'll leave em' for others. I certainly can see you wanting that particular Karambit to complete the blue set, but in general they just don't ring my bell, to each his own though! I'm sure plenty of folks don't understand my obsession with stilettos, so I'm the last guy to judge others on their choices! Please post some pics when you have em' all together! 8)

In addition to their designed usage, the TDI knives make great box cutters. That's what I use mine for, With the kydex sheath on your belt, it's a simple pull/cut/sheath process and the curved handle puts the cutting edge/tip in the right position with less wrist strain. At least for me. YMMV.

Will do, Mark. I'm hoping it is small enough to use a dog tag type chain and make a neck knife out of it.
