Need info on a Kabar
Need info on a Kabar
I have this Kabar Barlow 1014 with wood handles and brass bolsters.
Kabar made a series of these with this handle and bolster combo.
I looked through my books and online. I haven't found much.
Were these made by Alcas or someone else?
Were they made about 1977?
Were they called the "Classic Series"?
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Need info on a Kabar
The historical pricing chart indicates that the 1014 was produced from "the mid-1960s to 1984".
Since it has a model number, that makes it after 1969, when model numbers started showing up on Cole National era knives.
Final suggested retail price was $20.
Gunsil will probably be able to tell us who made it.

Re: Need info on a Kabar
Sorry guys, I neither like or know much about such new Kabars (I prefer KA-BARs). Probably made by Camillus, possibly Schrade. KA-BAR quality went way down after WW2 and declined even more by the 1970s. Steve (Knifaholic) says later Kabars were made by Camillus but a lot of Kabar stamps with model numbers were found in the Schrade factory when thy closed. Pretty much all my catalogs and price lists end in the early 1950s, I just have never studied the later knives.
