UNION ?

The KA-BAR brand originated as a trademark of the Tidioute Cutlery Company. Tidioute was later taken over & renamed the Union Cutlery Company which continued making the brand until Union eventually adopted it as the company name in 1952. Cutco Corporation later acquired the company in 1996.

UNION ?

Post by Ridgegrass »

Posted this on Q + A. Here's a 3", Congress pen in glitter celliloid. Main stamp is oblerated except for "CUTLERY CO.". Secondary is stamped TIDIOUTE in a half-moon over PA. I'm leaning toward UNION but would like opinions. The pics aren't so good but it defintely says TIDIOUTE, PA. Thanks J.O'.

Nice looking knife. Spacing doesn't look right for Union. Could be Baldwin.
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Could be, but they were in Jamestown, N.Y. Thanks. The UNION just doesn't justify in that space ??????? ::shrug:: J.O'.

Ta Da! Just found some old posts that show Baldwin knives from Tidioute before they moved to Jamestown (1919?) Cool, guess it's a rarer bird than
I thought!
The BALDWIN strike fits well in the tang space.
Bought it this afternoon in Salisbury, MD with a nice old ebony Schatt and Morgan for $8 each. Lucky me, and it's in great shape. ::ds:: J.O'.

Yes, This is why I said it was a Baldwin stamp. Nice little knife!
