Rough Rider Large Canoe - Abalone handles

Post by rexstubbins »

I just found this little corner here on AAPK where I can't be ashamed. I guess that I should post my favorite Chinese made knife. Rough Rider, Abalone handled, 3 blade large canoe knife. In my opinion this knife is very high quality. I think some of the domestic brands need to step it up. This one has major snap on all of the springs and has some custom (perhaps machine done) file work on the blades & springs. Sad that it's probably only worth $10 on the market. On the flip side I have had some very poorly made Chinese knives. I guess the same can be said about some U.S. knives. Politics aside it's a nice knife.

That knife sure has the bling factor. I'm curious what that short spey blade is intended for.

I have that same pattern with jigged bone. It really is one heck of a knife. I've nover used it but it came very sharp and the fit and finish is perfect. I suspect that the filework may occur in casting but I don't know...Herb

I have two of those canoes. They are both huge for a canoe at 4 5/8" closed. One is smoke gray like yours. The other is pearl white. Serious bling and wow factor going on with these knives. Beautifully made and finished. Photos don't do them justice.
