ANK Custom

Post by 00p225 »

Has anyone heard of this brand? I picked this up in a pawn shop for fifteen. They are out of Coolidge Ga, but marked made in China. Extremely well finished, and the blades are razor sharp after a few passes on a crock stick. There's one on that action site right now. https://www.ebay.com/itm/234426471002?h ... SwFvNiDmlm

I don't recall seeing one before. It does look appealing, though. I normally don't like handles that are hafted away that much, but for some reason it looks good on these examples.
I did find some patent information that shows the trademark is owned by Bud-K, but was not renewed.

I still don't see the tie-in to Coolidge GA. Perhaps these were first commissioned by a small wholesaler there in Coolidge, then their rights were bought by Bud-K?
An intriguing mystery, and a cool looking knife!

Here is a ten-year old article about the BUDK company:

And here is their website:

Aha! Thanks, Dennis!
I had seen the Bud K website for years, but had no idea that their company is based out of Moultrie, GA. That is just up the road a bit from Coolidge.
The ANK brand must have been some of their earlier imports, before they purchased United Cutlery out of bankruptcy.

As I said before, I like the look of that ANK knife. I may have to keep my eyes peeled for some of those in the future.
