My $14.00 Colonial Knife

Post by TripleF »

Stopped into my fav convenience store today, as always, for coffee.

Younger fella , on the side of the building asked me for a smoke.

No,sorry, I don't smoke.....butI used to.

Coming back out to my car w/ coffee in hand, I see he's having a cigarette.
I see you got a smoke.
Yup. he says.....do you have any spare change he asks?

(thinking....I'm like, you don't look homeless, you have a high and tight haircut......hmmmmmmm)
..I reply, I'm going to estate sales, all I have is bills.
Ok thank you sir. Good luck.
Thanks I say.
How do you do at those estate sales sir, he asks?

Ok. I reply. I buy and sell knives, exes, etc.

Knives? I have a knife, can I show it to you?
Sure.
He lightly jogs to his car in the Wal-Mart parking lot with a tarp over it.

Here it is he says.
I ask, what's goin' on man? Everything ok?

Well, sir, my wife and I lost out jobs because of the COVID. Can you give me a couple bucks for it?
Yeah, I said....sure.
I pull out a small wad and see a couple 5's and some singles I guess to be $14.00.
I said, here, this'll cover it.

Oh sir, thank you, thank you......you made my day as his eyes begin to well up. God bless you sir.

I have more than a knife now!!!

Keep that knife Scott. Don't sell it. (But if you do, call me first.) It's so foggy in the house, I can barely see it but from what I can see, it's a good'n.

Good deed Scott, with good karma coming your way, maybe you’ll come across an ex or 2 to buy low and sell high, I hear with Covid it’s a sellers market though ::dang::

Great to read a story like this, especially when it involves a knife purchase for a good cause. ::tu:: ::tu::

Unfortunately, I don't think this young guy and his wife are the only ones living out of their cars right now. My heart goes out to them, I hope they can hang on.
