Gun show finds

Post by Panzerfaust »

I made a good haul at a gun show today. Only one of the swing guards is marked Rizzuto and they are not mint. Blades have been sharpened and both appear to have been cleaned but lock up is tight, safeties work and most importantly, the blades sit deep and I got these for a lot less than what they were selling for during the Rizzuto craze a few years ago. The blue Super Auto and Nato Military are like new. The price on the blue one seemed too good to be true so I grabbed it and I debated whether to buy the Nato but it was still a good price compared to what I have seen them sell for online. These knives are nostalgic for me because I remember them from the 1980s and still have a blue Super Automatic my cousin bought me in Mexico in 1984. I know it's not a proper term but OTF switchblades were called "stilettos" back in the day. It's nice to find some switchblades the old-fashioned way at good prices by spending hours at a show instead of buying them online where they are often overpriced.

Nice finds! My cousin had a black Super Auto in the late 80’ or early 90’s and I thought it was the coolest thing. Auto knives were illegal in Texas then so we really felt like we had something.

Nice score! Especially cools that you found them in person. Lots of internet guys never even go to shows. Seems weird and passionless…

Absolutely and there is just something about finding them this way. It was a large show and when I was more than halfway through it, I thought I was going to get skunked because I had not found anything at an attractive price. It was in one of the last aisles that I found the OTFs for $50 each. The blue one was way under priced and there is one on here listed as sold and though I don't know if it was the actual sale price, it was listed at $225. Both the OTFs are duplicates for me so I will probably sell them at some point.

Teriffic score, PF.
In the 70's I brought back 2 OTF's and 1 side-opener from Mexico, and they felt like the greatest find I'd ever made cuz they are so illegal up here.
They were real POS that had tons of blade play and really rattled around in my pocket, but damn they were cool!
It actually surprises me that folks continue to covet them, since no improvements have been made in their performance or make up in all the time they've been around. ::shrug::
