Remington R8063 Beryllium Spring
Hello, This knife has very strong springs. The pen blade snaps open so fast that it bounces back before your finger releases the button/lock. I have tried a few things to fix it but nothing has quite worked. Has anyone seen this ? Any ideas how to fix it ?
Thanks, DC

I had a Schrade that worked like that, eventually the spring broke so I guess that solved the problem.
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

The liners should be crimped where the blade bounces back.

yes i've tried tightening it up with different shims. i didn't want to get it too tight. Are these knives designed to fly all the way open or just unlock ?Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 02, 2022 6:51 pm The liners should be crimped where the blade bounces back.

They are designed to open fully.
Tightening the blade generally has little effect, and you can easily damage the knife.
Deform the liner on the end.

Yes Ive tightened the knife to factory specs. I'll try deforming the liner as the specified.Bill DeShivs wrote: ↑Sun Jan 09, 2022 7:41 pm They are designed to open fully.

I have a question on how to fix fish tails when the blade peaks. Is there a way to use silver solder to add material to the blade or mating part so the knife is similar to the way it was when new ? I have had good luck fixing slow blades using silver solder.
Thanks, DC

Silver solder will wear too quickly in that situation.
Laser welding with steel works extremely well, though.
