Anyone know about this knife ?

Post by gadwallr »

I am 47 years old and ever since I can remember my dad hass had this switchblade he was in the Navy in the 50s and I think that’s when he picked it up over in Europe. Any info would be pretty sweet I’d like to know a little bit about it don’t know much about switch Blades. It’s in great shape and it works like it’s brand new.

I cannot make out the tang stamp. If you can and cannot get a clear closeup photo, kindly tell us what it says. It looks to me as though one of the words might be Olbertz which is a famous German factory in Solingen Germany. But the word Import puzzles me.

By the way, welcome to AAPK. ::handshake:: I'm thinking someone will come along who will be better able to help you.

Do a search here for “Herbertz”. There are numerous posts about it. Here’s one of them. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=44535&p=448521&hili ... tz#p448521

You can find the search function under Quick links over to the upper left of this page. Click it, you’ll see Search in the drop down menu. Click that and you’re on the way - just follow the prompts.

Your knife was made in Maniago, Italy for the German Herbertz company. The knife was probably sold in Great Britain or Canada because of the "import" marking.
