When it comes to the Piranha knife series...
Aside from appearance, what is the attraction of their "Guardian" and "Mini Guardian" knives? What is their raison d'être?
Re: When it comes to the Piranha knife series...
Could be the cool factor.
Re: When it comes to the Piranha knife series...
Definitely could, missed that part. Other than that I don't see why you couldn't use it for any cutting task. I always liked the look of it but what turned me off about them is the blade wobble.

I have the "Virus" and the "Pocket". There really isn't that much blade "wobble". (This phenomenon has been grossly exaggerated).

A slight adjustment to the pivot should eliminate any wobble, providing the knife has a screw pivot and you don't overtighten it so as to affect it's performance. Jus' sayin'!Captain O wrote: ↑Wed Nov 24, 2021 2:28 amI have the "Virus" and the "Pocket". There really isn't that much blade "wobble". (This phenomenon has been grossly exaggerated).

They don't have a pivot, that's why they have the wobble.

Samb,
The "blade wobble" isn't that pronounced and if you like the knives, you needn't worry. The problem that I have with the "Guardian" and "Mini-Guardian" is the limited use of the Bayonet grind. I like a little "belly" on my blade because it gives me a little more "cutting power" when I saw "back-and-forth" with it. The excellent blade steels (154CM and S30V) hold a great edge longer and reduce the amount of cutting action needed to sever most materials.
Beyond the "appearance" attraction, I see nothing but a "plunging/stabbing" use for the grind. This is why I tend to shy away from the bayonet and dagger profiles. They are generally of limited utility outside of tactical/battle situations.
