AKC sticks open

Post by rwmoss1 »

I have had this knife about 8 months, bought it used. It is now stuck in the open position. I have been able to release and close the blade by playing around with the mechanism but it is not working right. It sticks every time I open it. I am more of a slipjoint guy and know little about automatic knives. Can anyone give me a link that will show me how to fix this knife or introduce me to a good mechanic who is fair and reasonable? Thanks for your help.download/file.php?mode=view&id=568393

Are you rocking the bolster after you fire it open? Could be why your having trouble closing it.

And if you're having trouble shifting the swivel-bolster JW try applying a drop or two of Quick Release oil underneath the top front bolster and shifting it back and forth a few times! If all else fails you can always treat it like a picklock model and simply "pick" the lock-tab up and fold closed! 8)

Thanks for the input. As it is I have to lift the lock tab about 80% of the time.

Well, seeing as picklocks are generally more desirable than swivel-bolster models things didn't turn out too badly for you! 8)

probably from that Florida auction house that constantly sells Chinese Converted Bucks AKC and other knives on Auction zip hibid and proxibid I see they have a "Knife" sale every month or so. They might be Affiliated with others as well down there.
