Very nice indeed,

Thank you for sharing.

That Latama looks to be a lovely clean example, well done... ::tu::

Someone seriously bent the B.V.&F. kickspring.
If the backspring lifts when the knife is closed (and I'm sure it does) the knife needs repair. This can break the backspring.

wow nice old italian picklocks , i have a collection of Latama's from smallest to biggest , dont have any Latama kriss blade picklocks them are really hard to find . the bv&F is nice too the spring does stick out a little but i have seen bunch of older stilettos with spring sticking out just like yours there is nothing wrong with it i would not worry about it as long as it works ok i would not touch it , leave it as is some collectors or knife restoration guys love making old picklocks look like new again but remember restored knives are NOT worth as much as un-restored knives unless they are totally trashed , also just because the spring sticks out a bit dont mean it needs restored or fixed dont let anyone tell you any different ::tu::

Why would someone bend the spring Bill, perhaps in an attempt to make it fire harder/faster? ::shrug:: Thx! 8)

Exactly.
The spring appears to be broken, and bent up to fire the knife.

I'm not sure why the photo rotates when I enlarge it. The BV&F kris does have a broken spring, I just store it open.

Thanks for the compliments
