Colonial Knife Company Collector's Forum
Re: Colonial Knife Company Collector's Forum
Great kit, knifetime! I have the knives but no pouch to put them in.
Very nice display case, Bobby!! You got some nice knives for sure!
Get inspired, man! We wan't another book.
This pic is a 5"' saber ground fixed blade (bottom) & 5" Fish Knife folder. The stamp pic
is from the fixed blade... it's tiny compared to other stamps?
I have only seen one other shell fixed blade like it.

I read the Pronto was a very short run do to Schrade filing a law suit on Colonial because it was to closely named to Shrade's Presto pattern--they were then called Sure-Snap

Absolutely correct Scott!! See, my buddy's here are a huge part of Colonial's history!
After the "Pronto debacle" Colonial intoduced the 'Shur Snap" label in 1948..
I can always count on my AAPK friends to assist in assesments and facts for acurate information...
Scott, you are the man!! Guys like yourself and Mr. Joe Keating, "Royal Pines Cutlery"
are going to assist in the foundation of my second book.....
Thanks a million Scott, AAPK needs more folks like yourself!!

Very nice set Grant! This is one of the old Jewelry or gentleman's knives that could be as old as early 50's. We made several different designs with so many different shelled handles; brass, stainless, even some gold filled..
The "Anvil Brand" blades were the oldest used for these knives.
Nice find..

Congrats Mickey!!
You've bought yourself a cat. # 533 SS, 1 of 4 different styles of Colonial's Scrimshaw Series, made from late 80's to late 90's...
Ranger grade knives with Ivory Delrin handles, hot die stamped in house and acid etched blade in the assembly room. Barrel Nickel plated bolster's and .075, 1075 High Carbon steel blades and springs. Barrel brass plated liners also...
The other three styles were a Barlow, and two lockback's; a 3", and a 4"...
Four styles in all....
We sold quite a few for some years..NICE FIND!! and somewhat rare!!

Re: Colonial Knife Company Collector's Forum
I picked up this knife/hatchet combo at a flea market last Sunday. It has not been carried or sharpened.
In spite of the stain on the leather it's in pretty good condition. I cleaned it up a little.
In a brief search I found several similar sets by different makers.
Thanks for looking.

Re: Colonial Knife Company Collector's Forum
Posted this on several threads but am still desperately searching for info on this knife.. Was it, in fact, made by Colonial? Either way, I feel that it belongs in this forum. Thanks in advance for any info and hope you enjoy!
