Re: HAND ENGRAVED BARLOW BOLSTER'S....Bobby P.Colonial Knife
That's just fine...messing with "original" condition puts folks on the look-out for bad
work and re-assembled knives that are bull.!!
This is strickly an offer from me personally and I am not looking to make money from this!!!
I suspect that anyone with an Old Cutler Barlow wouldn't mind fixing it up a bit for very
little expense....
I will gladly take any old Colonial Barlow and replace most or all of the parts, to the best of my ability, and finish it. 20-30 bucks.?? Depends on the work..not a problem, I'm a cutler..
Solid pin repair no problem.....
The engraved bolster offer is just one set; that's it!!
The repair offer stays.....
Bob P. Colonial, RAP, Heritage....
Here's a pic of my work, from Heritage Cutler's.....

Re: HAND ENGRAVED BARLOW BOLSTER'S....Bobby P.Colonial Knife
Bobby, I can't find an Old Cutler Barlow here posted other than a sawcut delrin one in an Old Cutler series set!?
I know I've seen them in a white handle before but no one has ever posted any on the site that I can find!
There ARE several of your own handmade knives on here with the Old Cutler stamp on them.
Maybe give it a few days and someone will find one or get one off the bay...

Hey Joe again...
And anyone else listening.....
The 3" Old Cutler LB and that Marlin spike listed on e-bay must be China made by the new
Colonial Corp., dealing in imported knives for the most part...
FYI, these knives are Colonial stamped, sheilded, and are being sold as "Old Cutler's" and
were NEVER made at the original Colonial factory..
This is the ONE and only original "Old Cutler" line..
There were some variations here and there and the Trapper in this set was made by Camillus Cutlery, Camillus, NY.....just so you know!!

Yup, that there is the set I was referring to.
The others I saw in a site search were not advertised for sale.
I'll edit in and post the search link here.
O.K. - found 3 pages with the "Old Cutler Barlow" search:
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... mit=Search
Also, on an ebay search, I found two of your RAP stockmans with Rosewood handles... $99 each!
Both are from the same seller in R.I.! Maybe cousin Steve scarfed up a couple??
JUST HOW does he get away with marking HIS knives "U.S.A."???

Re: HAND ENGRAVED BARLOW BOLSTER'S....Bobby P.Colonial Knife
That's a very good question Joe?????
How do people BEND the law to make it right to suit themselve's?????
The "country of origin" is supposed to be marked on all imported items.
I guess if you import something and slap some crap on it or re-package
it, you can CLAIM anything you want!!!
I'm glad I am surrounded by proffesional's who know better; at least where
pocket knives are concerned..
Bobby Paolantonio, your authentic, official, HONEST Colonial Knife Historian..
Here's a shot of my "Limited Edition" Ikki Wood Handled 1983 Series....
Naturally, since most of the brain work behind this knife was mine,
I have # 1 !! My brother Dave has # 2...

Re: HAND ENGRAVED BARLOW BOLSTER'S....Bobby P.Colonial Knife
OK, here is the authentic story of Colonial's first and only "Old Cutler"
Limited Custom Series 1/ 1983.
Alphonse D. Paolantonio, uncle Al D., smart business man and knife lover and second generation 1/3 owner of Colonial Knife, was a main player in this collaboration.
Marcell C., one of our smartest tool makers devise a cutting tool that could cut the workback design of the springs and blades; which would come to be known as the "Cascade Patern"...he also designed a cutting tool to shape and finish the wood handle we would all agree to as the handle material made from "African Ikki Wood"....
It claimed to be four times harder than oak, and lived up to it's claim.
The 300 pcs series was hand engraved on the top # 1 Bolster, # 001 to # 300...
The hand engraved bolster's were provided by me! I found a gentleman in Texas named Clint Orms who provided the 1,200 bolster's we needed to complete the order.
I also worked with our etching people and found a chemical balance that would give a gold color to the etching that would appear on each master blade.
Marcell wanted to sell the tools to Colonial after we made the order, things fell apart and this was the first and last collector's series to be labled Old Cutler....
We sold all the 300 knives so they are out there somewhere but all I know is I have # 1 and my brother has # 2.!!!
The assembly and finishing of the knives involved Mr. Tommy B., Tony G., Charlie B., Americo on wheel work and yours truely, Bobby P..
We made the order or series from beginning to end!!
Once again, African Ikki wood was the handle we chose....
