New and old ranger.
This is my first time posting. I have been collecting knives for about 15 years. Nothing really fancy, just good ole pocket knives. When I was about 12 years old my grandfather gave me an old Ranger pocket knife. I have used it for everything under the sun. It has been a great companion. I ran across a new ranger the other day for 9 dollars,so I bought it. I don't think the quality of the new one is as good as my old one. I don't know about the blade material. I know the old one is carbon.

Thanks. I have one with black handles also. One side is cracked. A friend of mine is going to try and replace the scales on both sides.

Welcome and thanks for posting. A lot of folks around here like honest old knives and especially when there is a story with it.

Re: New and old ranger.
I came across a Ranger in the first collection I bought. I actually didn’t sell it and still have it. It’s so well made and this stockman had a lock on the main blade. I really like that idea of a lock on the main blade. You don’t see that real often.
I also had a Case Sodbuster that had a lock on it. I wish I hadn’t sold that one.
Glad you posted and welcome.
