Customized Old Cutlers
Customized Old Cutlers
I have four customized Old Cutlers. I have always wondered if these came out of the factory this way or if someone done this after market? Your thoughts? The barlows may be ivory but not sure. The first one is filed worked. The second is not but appears to have been shortened.

Some old Cutlers that Bob sent me pictures of a few years ago.
Your filing on the Barlow looks similar. The others not so much.

Re: Customized Old Cutlers
I was doing a lot of gun show selling back in the early 1980"s and one of the brands I sold a lot of was Old Cutler. I have never seen any Old Cutler knives that looked like those you have. I would think they were customized by some talented knife mechanic as Old Cutler knives were an inexpensive brand that I would not think anyone would spend that kind of time and thus money on customizing at the factory. I can recall back in the day I used to pay $35 for a dozen Old Cutler from the wholesaler and I sold them for $9-10 each. The most popular patterns I sold were stockman, trapper and Barlow. I can't recall if they made other patterns such as jack or muskrat.
