Solingen Germany Military Boot knife By Kershaw

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

Solingen Germany Military Boot knife By Kershaw

Post by Mossdancer »

Picked this up at the Kelso, Wash. Show this past weekend. I believe they have been made in at least three different countries. Germany, Japan and China. Possibly even the U.S.A. This particular knife was made in mid 80's. I have one of the China made ones still in the box with the multi carry sheath. The feel of the German made is far superior to the Chinese made. Anything to add feel welcome.

Great looking knife, long swedge on top and the smooth lines all around. I had no idea Kershaw had any knives made in Germany. Any chance they just had the blades made in Germany and then assembled the knife here? Handles look nice too, is that ebony wood?
Good looking sheath as well...two thumbs up on the package!

That boot knife is sweet Ray, so is the one moss posted.
Kershaw had several knives made in Germany back in the 1980s and they were all excellent quality knives.
It would be interesting to know who made them for Kershaw.
Does anyone happen to know?

The sheath is a copy of the Gerber MK-1 sheath. Very, very nice knife Moss.
