Kershaw in the pocket?????

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

Due to the slotted screw, and how easy this sharpened last time I touched it up, I'm almost certain this is a late Japan production AUS-6 example of a Delly Wade Officer. Compact, comfy, and grips well.

Gonna have to find one with the spanner pivot and AUS-8 steel.

This Kershaw Ken Onion Chive showed up on friday. Been cliped in my pocket since then. Never had a knife like this before. Man is it fun to play with!!! ::groove:: I have had the Lanyard for some time now and tried putting it on several knives but the feeling just wasn't right to me. I find it fits well on this Kershaw though, so they are a team now. :mrgreen: More pictures in the "Mail Call" & "Show us your Clips" threads. ::tu::

Thanks for looking! ::handshake::

I'm really enjoying playing around with my first little spring assisted flipper knife. ::tu:: If you guys know of some other high quality but still affordable "smaller" ( under 4 inches closed, better 3 1/2 ) spring assisted or automatic knives that aren't too hard to find, I'd love to know about them so I could look for 1 or 2 more knives similar to this one. I appreciate your input! Thanks! ::handshake:: :D

( Edit: I like this kind of "elegant" / "classy" look more than the "dangerous" / "tactical" look. If that makes any sense. ) ::tu::

What's the closed length? They made more than one edition of the DWO knives and in several colors.

Kershaw A-100. A bit heavy, but they have locking pliers. The Schrade/Vise Grip multitools (actually based on real Petersen Vise Grips!) have recently really gone up in price (from $50-60, to $75 plus), and I dislike the pretty mediocre Phillips screwdriver on my Tough Tool, which the Tough Grips also had. Leatherman has the Crunch, but I didn't want to have to assemble it every time I needed the pliers (which is actually more than the blade). I'd settled on this Kershaw, becuase not only does it have a proper Phillips screwdriver (as well as a big slotted screwdriver, abrasive file, can/bottle opener, and hacksaw blade) and a lock release like proper Vise Grips, but also an outside opening blade. They stopped making them close to 20 years ago, so they are often quite hard to find, and bring more than $100 in good shape. I bought a lot of 4 for $90 sold as "For Parts". Took me all of ten minutes; and a pair of small Channellocks, 6LN Vise Grips, and of course Loctite; to replace a pivot and screw (completely missing--I don't think they even bothered to Loctite them when new) this afternoon to repair one of those four. Another is repairable, with parts from the same really bad one I robbed parts from to fix this one. There were two other issues. One, the slider was a little lethargic when using the adjusting screw to open up the pliers. That was fixed by fine-tuning and Loctiting the hex screw. Secondly, the pliers are a little lethargic when opening them up. That's due to a stretched spring. Common extension spring, found everywhere hardware is sold. I'm checking Fastenal pretty soon.

A couple Dividends and a Knockout.

The top Dividend has a composite blade made of Bohler N690 on the blade upper to take advantage of corrosion resistance and hardness, CPM D2 on the cutting edge to take advantage of wear resistance, toughness, and edge retention. The middle Dividend is an 1812GRY in 420HC, the Blade Show's Best Buy in 2017 or 2018 (can't remember the year exactly). I picked up the Knockout in Black Stars & Stripes right before the 4th of July. Blackwashed M390 blade that cuts like a razor, I don't think I have ever received a knife edged this sharp right out of the box. I carry this knife often and it traveled with me exclusively on vacation.

All made in the USA. If you see the American flag on a Kershaw, you know that. 🇺🇸 😉👍

My usual EDC is a (part serrated) Chill, but today I thought I'd tote this little 1615 Onion/Centofante for a change. I'd forgotten how much I like this little guy...and I love the clip-on holster too. ::nod::

Not in the pocket (yet, just ordered), but this a deal on a Speed Safe that supposedly is USA made. Even if it's not it's ok in my book.

*Edit- it does have the Flag.

I may have to get that one. While it's still Kershaw's standard steel, you've got a knife that looks the part of a ZT, but a fraction of the price. All the while, still USA made. Seems the Link, as of late, is clearanced priced everywhere.
