Kershaw Shallot

Kershaw began its foray into the knife business sometime during 1974. The company was originally based in Portland Oregon, but most early knives were manufactured in Japan. The first US manufacturing plant was opened in 1997 & the company currently offers knives made in the U.S., Japan, & China. Pete Kershaw (an ex Gerber salesman) started the business.

All of the American made kershaws are great knives ::tu::

Not that the ones made over seas aren't, just my personal preference.

The shallot is one of them ::tu::

That Shallot is one hunk of knife. There's a good bit of blade to be swinging out with the Speedsafe® so it's just a skosh slower than a Leek or one of the smaller ones. She's a sturdy old beast though. I saw on the Kershaw site that the handles are stainless steel but I'm pretty sure the handles for my Snap-On (SFO) are anodized aluminum.
