Junebug I like that knife, I'm guessing with the arch over usa 1917-1939, no pattern# probably there is a 542 somewhere in there. I really like those robeson knives.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
I suspect it's circa WWII and possibly an issued knife.
Forget the dating on tang stamps on this one.
It should have bone handles, but has rough black instead.
Pattern number would have been 622214. No pattern number speaks for WWII issue as well.

I just bought this one off Ebay. See the interesting details in The Robeson Cutlery Co thread in Knife Lore.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
Well, the Robeson 622806 3 5/8" EO Electrician's Jack arrived today.
This knife is better than I thought. Better than suggested by the auction photos. In fact, it's as nice as any knife I own and I own some very nice Robesons.
It snaps like a bear trap. The blades are perfectly centered between the center and outer liners. The original Robeson glaze finish is near perfect. This knife has not been cleaned in any way. It's very close to a "factory fresh" knife. The backsprings look like mirrors. The brown bone handles are not cracked or chipped. It has never been used and appears to have never been carried.
Now, the kicker. In my post in the Knife Lore forum, I referenced a similar knife that sold on Ebay a few years ago for several hundred dollars. Actually, it sold for $354.00 plus shipping.
Here is the post I made to AAPK re' that knife with some of its auction photos:
http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kni ... 35&t=22846
I have compared that knife to the one I just received.
They are the very same knife.
I just paid less than half what the knife sold for previously to get something I was outbid on in the original auction.
What a deal on a superlative piece of utilitarian pocket cutlery.
0078, that is a sweet old knife. Looks like an 088 pattern.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
Mickey, notice your little dog-leg has no handle pins. That's why it has the patent stamp. Robeson came up with a method of handle attachment that eliminated the pins.
PocketEze is nice too.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
got this knife for $30 because it is in great shape, blades like new with great snap, a little 'stiff' or is that a good 'tight' feeling?
no half stops? was it made to have half stops or some knives are made not to have half stops?
the tang stamp tells me 1940-1964, which would be the Emerson Case years, and known as good knives
the manufactors #6 says it is real bone, red bone or strawberry bone?
3 3/8 tear drop jack right?
Mick

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
more research and I notice this; 6 = Genuine Bone, Jigged Rough Black Plastic, Jigged Delrin Imitation Bone
so it may not be bone, but I think it may be and I think it is a swell end jack not a teardrop jack

Genuine strawberry bone on that one, Mickey.
There's a larger version of that as the 056.

Re: SHOW YOUR NEW (TO YOU) ROBESON
here is another red Robe, 622064
there is some blade loss, not much, they are shaped like lambs foot or thin wharncliffe, not pen/spear, maybe there is more blade loss than i thought, let me take a photo of full blades.
very good walk and talk, 2 3/4 senator (pen) knife
looks like the handle material (bone?) peeled, flaked, split?
before, during or after manufacture ?
I guess real bone , flaked during the making, in the 50's, [ 40-64]

Haven't really got into buying older knives yet, just new, but possibly saw basicly the same as this knife in a local Pawn Shop and they had 39.99 on the tag. Is that a decent price if it is the same as this????? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this question!!!!
